Great weekend for Minor Atom A/AA Wolves!!
What a great weekend for the Minor Atom A/AA Wolves who gained 4 of 4 points on the weekend and had a great time with our first team builder.

Friday night we traveled to Brantford for a tilt with the 99ers. We got off to a slow start as it seemed our feet were stuck in quicksand. As soon as we found the net for our first goal the whole bench had a little more jump. Popping in 2 more we had all the momentum with us. Up by 3 all of a sudden there was a march of Wolves to the box followed by a march of 99ers. With the game back to a stand still the 99ers got one of their 2 (questionable) followed up right away by a second. The 99ers now had all the momentum. We fought them off with some great saves when we needed them and some swift rebound clears to hold them off for the 3-2 win.

Saturday we spent the afternoon playing Man tracker. Each coach took a group of 3 or 4 players and ran for their lives while being chased by the Man tracker on horseback. If caught by the Man tracker you had to forfeit a life and sing them a song. The end goal to get to the finish in the fastest time with the most lives. Coach Tim's team narrowly edged out coach Jeff's team for the victory. Coach Kyle's team came in third narrowly beating out coach Matt's team. Just when we thought we would have to send out search and rescue coach Trevor's team came running from the bush.

The team then sat down for a great lunch put on by the best parents in hockey. (ours) We even roasted some marshmallows over a camp fire and played around in the hay loft. A great time was had by all. Sorry to all the parents who had to smell the boys when we were done however it was well worth it.

After our Man tracker we had a great skills practice in preparation for our next game. We went out with our feet moving pushing our pace at practice.

Sunday the St. Thomas Jr Stars came to Albert for a tilt. It was a fast paced game flying back and forth up the ice. We got the first strike taking the lead. The team was working hard as ever. The Stars tied the game but the boys kept working. We gave up a few too many breakaways but the goal tending was up to the task stopping 3 in a row with the game locked up at 1 a piece. We pushed off a last minute surge by the Stars and scored with just under 9 seconds remaining in the game. With the final puck drop and a scramble to keep it from our end the buzzer went and we had the victory. Final 2-1 Wolves and the crowd went wild.

Next up for the boys a trip to Ottawa for our first tournament. The competition will be as good and even better than we have seen so for this year.

Go Wolves Go
