Game #3 Wolves at Cambridge Hawks
      Off to Cambridge!!

The basic message is the same. Discipline, quick shifts, give us your best effort. Tonight the boys really clicked with everyone getting involved. The D was solid on the back end and were executing well with our break outs. Goaltenders were holding their own. 5 minutes in we struck first with Mirt sending Illes up the left side and while cutting to the net he blows a tire and goes down. As he slides past the front of the net he makes contact with the puck and it ends up in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. 1 1/2 minutes later we go to the box. In a span of 19 seconds Crawford sets up Haffey on back to back two on ones for two short handed goals to bring the score to 3-0.
With 3 1/2 minutes left in the first Cambridge replies to make it 3-1. Less than a minute later Cambridge adds another to bring the score to 3-2. With a minute left in the 1st Mirt pots one to extend the lead to 4-2. As the 1st comes to a close with 10 seconds remaining Kelly does the dirty dangle and leaves several Hawks looking for the puck as he buries the biscuit for a 5-2 lead after the 1st.
We start the second off where we finished the 1st. Great hustle leading to extended puck possesion. 3 minutes into the second Ronson gets a puck to the net and Kueneman (10) buries a backhand, 6-2 Wolves. Cambridge gets into some penalty trouble getting 4 minutes with 8 minutes left in the 2nd. 20 seconds into the penalty, Crawford from behind the net feeds Hooper out front and it's in the back of the net 7-2 Wolves. 20 seconds later still on the power play, Face off in the Cambridge zone, Baker wins the puck to Mirt who throws it across to the opposite face off circle to Illes who one touches it back in the slot to Baker for the one timer and its 8-2 Wolves. With 4 1/2 left in the second Kueneman (14) pots one to bring us to 9-2 Wolves. With a minute left in the 2nd we're back on the power play and Crawford finds Hooper out front again and it's 10-2 Wolves.
We talk with the boys after the second to hold the fort and focus on playing as if we're in a 2-1 game. Nothing risky, high percentage plays, focus on puck possesion. We add one, on a Mirt to Illes to Baker bar down one timer half way through the 3rd and 11-2 Wolves was the final.  Even though things got "chippy" at the end the boys kept their cool and did a good job of sticking to the plan when the extra curriculars began to accelerate in the last 5 minutes. The last 5 minutes produced 24 minutes in penalties and the end of the game couldn't come soon enough so both teams could reflect on tonight's game and where we go from here. Excellent work to our players and let's work on taking it up a notch every practice and game.
