Minor Pee Wee Black Takes Game 4 on a Solid Team Effort: Series Tied 2 Games to 2
Waterloo hosted Game 3 against Burlington on Friday night at AME. The 8 PM puck drop did not favour the Wolf-pack and Burlington came out on top 6 to 0. Andreas Oudejans-Hall was outstanding in net and the score simply does not reflect his excellent play. Down 4 points to 2, the puck dropped in Burlington today for game 4.

The players and coaching staff tweaked the game plan and shifted strategy, but still got off to a slow start and were down 1 to 0 at the end of the first. During the first period intermission Coach Morrow reminded the players that we were down 1-0 at the end of the first in Game 2 and came back to win 3 to 2. Aiden Shah reminded Coach Morrow that we were actually down 2-0 as Burlington had scored 2 in the first one minute of play in that game. Corrected, Coach Morrow reminded the team that we had actually come back from a 2-0 deficit after one period of play and came out victorious.

Backed by the spectacular goal-tending of Jack Langlois, the "D Corps" consisting of D. Hemphill, B. Lemon, D. Baumann, P. Benest, E. Howe, M. Hohendorn and with a little help from the wingers protected our House and started to win the battles in and control the neutral zone. Doing this allowed our Forwards to put the pressure on in the offensive zone. As a result, Burlington took 5 penalties in the second period. The Wolf-Pack scored on a 5 on 3 power play with 13 seconds to go in the second period. J. McMurdo, A. Shah, R. Morrow, M. Hohendorn and D. Hemphill did a great job moving the puck from high to low and stretching out the Burlington defenders to open up seams. This eventually allowed Morrow to move the puck from the wall to Hemphill on the far point who scored low blocker side on a bullet slapshot. The other assist went to Shah.

The score remained tied through the third even though the Wolf-Pack had momentum and out-chanced Burlington. The line of J. Dinner, C. Adams and D. Brown did a great job in the neutral zone and many scoring opportunities down low in the offensive end. The D Corps owned the third and expertly moved the puck out of our end. With a tied game at the end of three, Waterloo was off to overtime.

Off the face off the line of Dinner, Adams and Brown moved the puck in to the offensive zone and battled hard with Burlington. McMurdo, Shah and Morrow kept the pressure on with the D pinching down the wall to keep the puck in Burlington's end. The D jumping in offensively and providing support was key and it paid off 2 minutes and 19 seconds into overtime. Baumann and Howe did a fantastic job holding the offensive blueline and D. Lamba-Rautapuro, E. Hahn and M. Andree played a flawless "pressure" shift that forced turnovers that they were able to control and turn into scoring opportunities. With 2:16 gone in the period, Baumman pinched down and Hahn moved the puck to Andree in the slot. Andree turned and put a quick shot on net that found the open corner.

A fantastic team effort..."For The Strength of The Pack Is The Wolf; And The Strength of The Wolf Is The Pack."
