What a crazy game we played last night.
We had nine skaters so everybody was going to get a lot of ice time
Then we ran into penalty trouble.
As a brief aside, I like it when the refs call the penalties. I can say all I want to the players on the bench but when the ref sends a message, the players do get it. The big reminder is that the play leading to the penalty does not have to be on purpose to be a penalty. You have to keep in mind where your stick is at all times.
We only had 3 defence to start with and then the defence were assessed three penalties
That is six minutes, over half a period, only having two defence.
Jackson did a great job going back to D to fill in for defence who were in the box. Switching positions from forward to defence is hard to do keeping your mind on which position you are playing and killing a penalty a the same time.
Jackson was one tired player by the end of the game.
You may have noticed Troy lining up in the defensive position but then playing all over the ice.
I told him to follow up on the play and get in on the offence as well as playing D, kind of a Bobby Orr type of defence. He did that. The only trouble was like all offensive minded players, he got caught up on the offensive opportunities.
The other forwards picked up on this right away and backed him up on Defence
Sam, in particular played a tremendous game, backing up Troy and keeping the team solid on defence. For that he earned him self the “C” for the game today.
Jack played great in net. For the first game in net in more the a year he was fantastic
Way to go Jack, it is good to have a Shark teammate as our new regular goalie.
I felt the Sharks accomplished a great deal last night, even though the score board said the other team won.
