Double Take Down
Gina you continue to capture the excitement of every game.

The Timber Wolves secured a position in the Tier 1 play-offs this past weekend. All the boys played their hearts out & did a tremendous job!

Friday, January 17th vs the Hamilton Hub Spitfires the Wolves showed their true potential. In the 1st period there was superb hustle by every Wolves player. 25 seconds into the 2nd, Hamilton scored the 1st goal. Then Hamilton scored again making it 2-0 at 6:42 in the 2nd. That 2nd goal was the spit of fire the Wolves needed to boost them into goal scoring mode! At 5:48 #44 Ryan Class & #77 Cameron Buck dug at the puck until it was in the net! Class awarded the goal & Buck the assist. Could've gone either way with both boys digging so hard. At 4:21, #10 Liam Karges carried the puck from one end of the ice to the other for an outrageous top shelf goal he hammered in the net! Tying it up 2-2. Wolves took the lead when #22 Makhaya Campbell shot it off the goalie, to #3 Ryan Godwin who sneaked in short side at 3:18. Widening the gap #19 Hudson Vance passed out from behind the net to #9 Richard Wang, assisting #13 Carter Milne at 2:27. With a 4-2 lead the Wolves weren't done yet! At 1:46, after so many great previous attempts, #68 Raine Lusted finally buried it from the point! BEAUTIFUL! Before the 2nd period came to a close #3 Ryan Godwin made an incredible attempt at scoring when he flew down the ice with stealth & drilled it at the net. #27 Kayden Curtis-Wolfe went to the box for body checking at 36.6 seconds. A man short #9 Richard Wang helped kill off some of the penalty with his powerful icing of the puck. That 2nd period of play was the most exciting hockey I've seen the Wolves play all season! At 13:09 of the 3rd #10 Liam Karges was called for roughing. A Spitfire joined Karges in the box for body checking at 12:47. Shortly after #13 Carter Milne deked out 4 Hamilton players for his 2nd break away attempt of the game (the 1st one when the Wolves were a man down near the end of the 2nd). Both times he was so close & had incredible hustle! His luster & effort made him stick out & landed him in the box for roughing to the head at7:40. That lead to the short handed goal by Hamilton at 5:52. #22 Makhaya Campbell made some super shots on net & a Hamilton player tripped him (afraid of Campbell scoring on a break away) at 4:24. With an extra man on the ice #19 Hudson Vance started the play leading to the last goal of the game. Vance passed the puck deep to #13 Carter Milne. Milne passed it out front to #9 Richard Wang who sailed it in, far side! #27 Kayden Curtis-Wolfe stopped some critical turn over opportunities & #66 Jeffrey Luo did great things to keep the puck away from his net! #88 Luke Collins #4 Caiden Benwell were quick to the puck mid ice & in their end. #7 Jacob Bender & #14 Robbie Young kept the puck deep in the opposing end for their team mates. The Wolves came back from a 2 goal Hamilton advantage & won it 6-3! Both goalies #31 Ryan May & #33 Liam Doherty made some incredible, out of this world saves!

On Sunday (January 19th), the Wolves played their last regular season game, on home ice, against Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets. Less than a minute into play #44 Ryan Class passed to #10 Liam Karges & Karges drilled it five hole at 9:07 for the early lead. Throughout the period there were great attempts on net by #13 Carter Milne & #68 Raine Lusted as in previous games. Woodstock took a body checking penalty at 3:09 & the Wolves were up by 2 at 1:57 when #14 Robbie Young shot the puck right onto the stick of #10 Liam Karges for the tip in goal. The beginning of the 2nd #9 Richard Wang was digging, covering the boards & chasing like crazy! #22 Makhaya Campbell was back checking, hustling to the puck & took some great shots on net. It lead to the goal he scored after receiving a perfect pass from #7 Jacob Bender. Campbell deked out the D & 5 holed the goalie! 3-0 Waterloo. Woodstock scored at 2:33 but only because #4 Caiden Benwell wasn't on the ice. Benwell was keeping it out, clearing it & making crazy attempts when he was out there! In the 3rd, the Wolves increased their lead when #44 Ryan Class passed the puck off to #77 Cameron Buck. Buck shot it from the point, top shelf, far side! Seriously insane! #68 Jeffrey Luo & #88 Luke Collins made sure Woodstock wouldn't get another chance. Luo kept them out of Waterloo's end & Collins kept it in Woodstocks! #19 Hudson Vance came out of no where with a long time coming, well deserved, unassisted goal at3:26. Vance was to fast for the goalie & caught him trying to come across. Goalie wasn't quick enough! #27 Kayden Curtis-Wolfe got his 1st chance at forward for the year during the last couple minutes of the game. He came so close to scoring, made great attempts, kept it in Woodstocks end & played his position perfectly. #33 Liam Doherty achieved another shut-out! Great job! #31 Ryan May made incredible saves all game too! What an amazing team of hockey players!

Keep playing like that & the Wolves will be unstoppable!
