Bantam Ice Wolves - Ace Bailey Champions!
The Bantam MD Ice Wolves went into the Ace Bailey Memorial Tournament in Stoney Creek this past weekend well prepared and it showed.

The Wolves played five phenomenal games, giving up only 3 total goals and in the end came out on top.

The Wolves opened the tournament on Friday with an impressive 6-0 victory over the Ancaster Avalanche.  Jordy Frank continued to impress and posted the shutout.  After a quick team lunch, the Wolves were back on the ice in the afternoon vs. the host team from Stoney Creek.  It wasn't the Wolves' best effort but Carter Habel kept the score close and in the end they dropped a 2-0 decision to the Jr. Warriors (empty net goal).

A good night's rest brought the team back for an early afternoon game on Saturday where they defeated the Cobourg Cougars 3-0 and solidified their spot in Saturday night's semi-final, a rematch with the Ancaster Avalanche.

The boys brought energy and pace to the semi-final.  They outmatched the Avalanche yet again and earned a berth into Sunday's final with a 5-0 win.

Sunday afternoon the team showed up ready to play.  They stuck to the game plan we had worked with them for all weekend and they delivered big time.  They controlled the play and wore down Stoney Creek posting a superb 3-1 win and capturing the tournament championship and the rings and banner to go with it!

The team played as a team.  From our rock solid goaltending and defence that never gave up an even strength goal in any of the games.  We surrendered a 5 on 3 PP goal and an empty netter in preliminary play and a 6-3 PP goal in the dying seconds of the championship game.   Our forwards forechecked hard and found the net often.

Congrats boys, you bought in and believed in what we've been teaching.  Way to go!

Thanks to the coaching staff for all of your dedication and time with the boys.  Results are showing it's making a difference!
