Weekend Update
The Ice Wolves made a trip to Burlington to take on the Bulldogs which turned into a spirited game that saw the penalty box well used. The bulldogs got out to a 3-0 lead. It wasn't til the third when Bradley D off a feed from Tyler M would drive to the net and put a nice deke on the goalie to score. The Ice Wolves had a great third period, and outshot Burlington 17-14 in the 3-1 loss.
The Ice Wolves would play at home Saturday against the Hamilton Phantoms. A win and the Ice Wolves would secure their final 4 spot for Tier 1.
The Ice Wolves would open the scoring jamming home an uncovered puck at the side of the net. The Phantoms would reply the very next shift to even the game at 1-1. Shortly after, another opportunity by the Wolves with the puck crossing the line and a Hamilton stick pulling it out of the net. The referee would call it off.
The Ice Wolves would keep the pressure on for much of the game, pinning Hamilton in their zone.
The Ice Wolves would go up 2-1 off a forecheck that kept the puck in the zone and a centering pass that Jack E buried in the net.
The game looked in hand til the 2 minute mark of the third period. With Hamilton in the Ice Wolves zone a shot would be blocked and would end up back on the stick of the Hamilton player. The next shot would tie the game at 2-2.
Although heavily outplayed the Hamilton team would leave with a tie. Shots were 15-6. Goals scored by Sam R and Jack E. The assists going to
Coper S with 2 and Sam V. Two games remaining in the elimination round.
