WATERLOO MEMORIAL CHAMPIONS
On a cold November morning, 17 Waterloo hockey players and 5 coaches showed up at Rim Park bright and early eager to get on the ice.  Their first opponent Kitchener, nothing like a backyard rival to start off your home tournament. The thing is Kitchener showed to play too.....but the Wolves wanted it more. Three periods of hockey later and the Waterloo team walked out with a 3-0 win.

Next up, Niagara Falls! Now not knowing anything about what to expect out came those Wolves again....teeth snarled,  & game faces showing, Niagara Falls didn't know what they were up for. Waterloo comes out of game 2 with an 8-1 win. With the coaches happy with the start of the tournament the boys were sent off to relax, but with the friendly reminder that curfew was still in place.

Saturday, another early start on a warm November morning. The first obstacle today.... the Guelph Jr. Storm. Now the wolves knew this was not going to be an easy game. What with playing them in exhibition early in the tryouts Guelph wanted redemption.....and redemption they came seeking. This was a very tight game and a well fought battle by both  Waterloo and Guelph. The points for this game 3-3!

Saturday afternoon the whole team, coaching staff, parents and fans alike arrive at the rink again. Smiles and anticipation flowing from all those supporting the black and gold.  Up next St. Catherines! The boys were pumped resulting in another victory with a final score of 6-0! Now as you can imagine 4 games in 2 days everyone was ready for a quiet evening and lots of rest. That was exactly what all did!

Sunday brought the Semi-finals and as you may expect it was another early morning. Richmond Hill was the opponent and they weren't backing down. Lets face it who would we are talking the next step being finals which equals Championship! Back and forth, goal Waterloo, goal Richmond Hill, the tension was too much for a sunday morning. Final score 5-4, one valued player down - but look out finals here come the Wolves! Can you hear the roar?

Finals - Wow look at the fans! The boys are pumped, the roar is insane, the chant in the dressing room "who's house is it? - Our House! Who's House is it? - Our House" yes that's right! On the ice are the North York Knights waiting in hopes with plans to take our house away! Roarrrrrrr......The Gold Wolves are having non of it. Sure you can have the first goal, but we want it back! The battle continued, but the wolves would not back down, "who's house is it - our house". This was the best game of the tournament. North York was exhausted but kept up the battle. In the end Final score 4 - 2!

History was made! The last time the cup saw any Waterloo team as champions was 2003!

CONGRATULATIONS 97 GOLD WOLVES!
