WOLVES SWEEP HAMILTON 3 GAMES STRAIGHT

Waterloo open their 2011-12 climb to the OHL CUP vs. the Hamilton Reps. 

In game one the Wolves came out strong right from the drop of the puck taking advantage of the aggressive nature of Hamilton and chipping and supporting the puck and using their team speed to expose the Hamilton defense core. This resulted in Waterloo having 9 powerplays in which they converted on 6 of them and eventaully led to a convincing 10-2 victory. Leading the charge was Steve Lorentz with 3 goals and an assist and Mack Shantz with 3 helpers of his own.
The REG was Austin Cox for his tough net front play.

In Game two Hamilton came in hungry and determined to erase game ones defeat and try to even up the series. Waterloo survived a 1st period deficit of 1-0 and answered with 3 goals of their own. Hamilton scored later in the 3rd to make it an excited finish but some key saves by Jackson McIntosh and crucial faceoff wins in DZ -zone by Mack Shantz gave Waterloo a 3-2 win and a strangle hold on the series. The REG winner was Ian Buck for his solid physical play and chips

Game three brought a solid tight checking affair. The score was 0-0 going into the 3rd with botrh teams killing off lengthy 5 on 3's. Austin Cox had a solid 3rd period for the Wolves as he scored the eventual game winner on a nice shot on rush and was key on the PK. Kyle Wood scored a beauty insurance goal and Jackson McIntosh posted the solid shutout. The REG winner was Jared Yantzi for his fearless shot blocking . The wolves won 2-0 and swept the series and now await either Lambton or Sun County
