First Win of the Season
Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse battled a courageous and very evenly matched Rangers squad to a 5-4 victory.
The two previous meetings resulted in a 2-2 draw and a 4-4 Rangers come from behind score with the extra attacker late in the game.
Sunday's game saw Lowe's jump ahead to a 2 goal lead with a marker in the first period and the second added 6 minutes into the second period. Only to be answered by the Rangers with two goals of their own. The second of which started a combined 6 goal third period. Lowe's again burst into another 2 goal lead scoring 10 seconds apart. Showing drive and determination the Rangers had an answer for the quick scoring Lowe's squad, finding the back of the net two more times. The second goal stopping the clock with 3 minutes left in the third period. The fans were delighted with the end to end action and stellar goal tending. Both net minders tested from all angles kept the hope of that first elusive victory alive for their respective club. Lowe's netted what proved to be the game winner with 1:31 left in the third period. True to form as in the last meeting with these two clubs, the Rangers pulled their goalie to bring on the extra attacker. The Rangers had the Lowe's team pinned in their own end for the last 45 seconds of the game. Lowe's desperation and determination saw them blocking shots and diving for loose pucks to preserve the win. The final buzzer sounded with the spectators rising in adulation, appreciating the effort of both clubs.
