Schlueter Hyundai vs. Pillers and Kitchener Rangers
This weekend Schlueter Hyundai played to a loss and a victory over Pillers and the Kitchener Rangers respectively.

On Friday night Schlueter (9-0-4) played a tremendous game against an extremely competitive Pillers (9-1-3) team.  The team started off on the right foot, with a goal from the line of Horvath, Wigmore-Lopez, and Anderson.  The line was able to capitalize after some hard work with a full shift in the Pillers end.

The team would continue its stellar offensive play with chances coming for all three lines including Noble, Davis, and J. DeMers along with Dietrich, Flanders, and Brookes.  They had countless offensive opportunities, but the Pillers goaltender stole the show as Schlueter was not able to put the game away.

The defense also had a strong game.  The two pairings of Garland and Steffler as well as Domaratzki and Jones played well the whole game, despite the added ice time from being short a pair.  They were able to hold the highest scoring team in the league (who had scored 54 goals coming into the days action) scoreless until close to midway through the third.

Pillers would manage to score the tying goal, and the go ahead goal four minutes later.  After a Schlueter push for the tying goal Pillers would score once again to make the final 3-1.

C. DeMers played a great game in net.  The three goals that beat him were perfectly placed shots including one that went "bar down."

After three close games with Pillers this season resulting in a 1-1-1 record for both teams, it should prove to be an exciting game come playoffs!

On Saturday Schlueter (9-1-4) looked to shake of the loss against a tough Kitchener Rangers (0-12-2) team.  Kitchener had put up some gritty performances in recent weeks, including a close game against Lowes which could have gone either way, so Schlueter new it would need to play well.

The game proved to be as tough as expected, but the line of Horvath, Wigmore-Lopez, and Anderson were able to open the scoring in an up and down battle.  The Rangers would tie the game with a little over one minute left in the first.  However Schlueter showed some resistance as Jones, Davis and J. DeMers scored to take the lead with thirty three seconds remaining in the period.

The game would remain that way until late in the second when the Ranger squad once again tied the game.  The line of Jones, Davis, and J.DeMers would score again early in the third however to claim the lead.  The one goal lead would prove to be enough.

The line of Dietrich, Flanders, and Noble played an outstanding game both offensively and defensively.  The had plenty of offensive chances, and even had a possible goal called back.

The defense pairs who included two natural forwards also played well.  Haney and Brookes along with Garland and Duquette played well positionally, especially in the third when the team was trying to preserve the one goal lead.

C. DeMers played well in net especially in the third when he made a few key saves to keep his team in the lead.

Great season Schlueter Hyundai and to the other teams as well!  Lets come out hungry on Saturday as we begin the playoffs!
