Walter Gretzky Tournament Wrap Up
Henry's played their way into the Semi's with some great games, excellent goaltending, and energy to burn.

Friday, Henry's started the tournament with a game against the Mount Forest Rams.  The team definitely came out to play and opened the scoring in the first with a goal 3:21 in by #4 from #16.  Less than two minutes later, another goal was scored, this time #11 from #16 and #12.  With just 2:07 left, Henry's continued their scoring with a second goal by #4, from #6 and #10.
Leading 3-0 after one, Henry's added a goal 1:02 into the 2nd by #6 from #12 and #16.  The score became 5-0 when #11 scored from #7 and #8 with 28 seconds left in the period.
The third period started quickly with another goal 2:41 in by #10, from #4 and #12.  #4 completed his hat trick with 8:40 left in the third from #7 and #6.  #3 scored on a shot from the point with assists from #12 and #10, and #7 rounded out the scoring with assists from #11 and #8 with 58 seconds left.  9-0 winning, and our goalie's first shut out.  #11 was voted MVP for the game.

Saturday's first game was against Brantford Saints, and it was a tight one.  6:24 into the first, #16 scored on a breakaway to open the scoring.  Henry's scored early in the second period.  The goal just 31 seconds was by #11 from #3.  The teams played very tight, and the boys were focused on getting their goalie his second shut out.   Although play was rough, and penalties did not seem to be called in our favour the game was going as planned.  In the third, #99 scored 3:44 into the period on a rebound.  The boys shut the door from their and won the game 2-1.  #1 was MVP.

Saturday's second game saw Henry's face off against Valley East Popcorn Video.  Valley East game into the game after two decisive wins of 12-0 over Brantford, and 15-1 over Mount Forest.  The boys were pumped going into the game, and Valley East displayed their speed early.  Popcorn opened the scoring 2:28 into the game, and followed with another goal 3:55 in.  Henry's had a two on none, as #16 raced in with #4 following, and after spinning around, passed the puck back to #4 who deposited into the back of the net to bring the score to 2-1.  Valley East scored again with 2:26 left to end the first up 3-1.
The second period saw Henry's open the scoring with a breakaway goal by #7 just 21 seconds in.  Valley East was thrown off their game, as they did not play the dominating game that was expected.  Valley East ended the scoring for the period and the game 2:36 into the second.
In the third period, #16 had a great scoring chance as he headed down the boards, cut to the outside and as he cut back toward the middle was hit with a vicious body check which was caught on video by a fan.
The game ended 4-2 and the semi's were set, with Henry's excited about the opportunity to play Valley East again.  #7 was the MVP.

Sunday morning, and Valley East and Henry's were set to face off again.  This time it was a much different game.  Valley East opened the scoring 1:16 in, and then Henry's tied it up at the half way mark of the first.  Valley East though closed out the first with 3 unanswered goals, and then added 2 more in the second, and 3 in the third to win the game 9-1.  Even the score was lopsided, the play by Henry's was much better, and the boys deserved better, and should be proud of their play.  #5 was the MVP for team Henry's.

In the final, Valley East won 5-0 over the Barrie Jr. Colts.
