Waterloo Minor Hockey Association (WMHA) has engaged with SHIFT Concussion Management Inc. and a network of local health care providers to implement a concussion management protocol that improves support for coaches, trainers, players and their families with the goal of reducing the risk of premature return to play and re-injury.

SHIFT is a leader in Canada for providing an advanced approach to concussion awareness and rehabilitation, guiding injured athletes to a safe return to sport and daily life activities. The Shift Concussion network is the largest network of trained concussion management providers in Canada, with more than 450 across the country.

WMHA and SHIFT have a common goal to improve the process involving concussion recognition and management in youth sport and are committed to working together to develop and implement a targeted concussion management program that will be the first of its kind in the Region.

Over 900 of our athletes, including all of our Rep hockey players, from Major Atom to Major Midget will have received baseline concussion testing for the 2017-18 season.

For players who have taken the testing through SHIFT, it is recommended that they contact one of the following clinics in the event of a suspected head injury in order to receive an updated test against their baseline which can be used by their family physician to assist in the diagnostic process:
