Wolves Keep Rolling
Getting off to a good start is key for any team to be successful and the Waterloo Wolves have started the season very well!

The Wolves battled hard to earn a tough 3 to 1 victory over the London Jr Knights Saturday night setting the stage for the leagues two 3 and 0 teams to faceoff in St. Thomas Sunday.

Jack Driscoll was a rock in net and made sure he didn’t give the Knights any momentum in the game. Driscoll was nearly perfect with his rebound control when he allowed a second chance and gave his team the confidence they needed in the game.

Tim Hodson opened the scoring for the Wolves with a great effort from Griffin Beddis and Hunter McMurdo. Hodson was a workhorse all game and made several energetic plays to spark his linemates. Declan Uniac snuck out of the box after serving his time in the sin bin. He received a gorgeous stretch pass from Jackson McNichol. Cole Hunsberger and Matthew Ball had several chances and they applied pressure all game against the Knights.

Headed into the 3rd period with the score 2 to 1 the team spoke about the need to tighten up in the defensive zone and take advantage of any mistakes. Jackson Andrews and Ethan Wasylyshyn were ferocious on the forecheck, and Michael Wei put the puck in the net to return the Wolves to a two-goal lead.

The team was without Ben Yong and Cole Ledgister stepped up for his team moving from his center position to defense. Ledgister did a great job for his team and allowed the defenders to not be over worked. Jaxon Broda and Jackson Deitz were effective all game in gaining the offensive zone and head manning the puck up ice. Riley Webster was a monster in the Wolves end with some crunching hits and Cooper Gaul was another warrior in the defensive zone making sure the Knights stayed honest.

The Wolves played a solid game but not a perfect game. With a lot of positives, the team will focus on the areas it needs to improve and continue to put in the work. It was another example of how strong the team is when they work together, and the coaches are excited to see them continue to build confident and work hard as a team.

Go Wolves!
