Minor Peewee Wolves Win Again
The Minor Peewee Wolves Win the Barrie Glenn Bellerby/Moose Winooski's AA Tournament!

The Wolves faced North Humberland Nighthwks game 1 on Friday. The Hawks had entered the tournament on a 13 game win streak and were a top 10 team in the 10 games heading in. The Wolves and Hawks battled out the first 2 periods mostly even in play. It was the third period before the Wolves took over winning 3-1.

Game 2 on Friday had the Wolves facing the Auora Tigers. Again there was a good game with both teams playing well. The Wolves again came out on top with a 4-1 victory.

Saturday morning the Wolves took on a familiar foe in the London Knights Green. Heading into the tournament both teams had a win over the other in regular season. The Wolves sprang out to an early 2 goal lead but couldn't keep the Knights off the score sheet. The game was hard fought with both teams playing well. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.

The final round robin game the Wolves faced a Jokerit team from Finland. It was a great experience getting to play them. When the game was over and hands were shaken both teams gathered for a picture together. It was a close game with the Wolves winning 3-0 but the best part was the sportsmanship shown by both teams when the game was done.

The Semi-Final had the Wolves facing the home town Barrie Colts. The previous meeting ended in a tie that the Wolves pulled off with and empty net goal in London. Again it was a close game. Both teams had chances but the Wolves capitalized on a late 2nd period power play scoring in the dying seconds to take a 2-1 lead. The boys would add a 3rd in the 3rd to seal the deal.

The Final game was a rematch with London Green. The first period went scoreless. Both teams were keeping the other from many scoring chances. The Wolves opened the scoring in the second followed not long after by a London tying goal. With the teams locked up at a goal each and limiting each others chances we were in for a fight to the end. Finally in the dying minutes with a well placed shot the Wolves took the lead. London pushed hard with the net empty but the Wolves kept them at bay winning 2-1.

In another highlight from our weekend was the fun afternoon of tubing that let the boys blow off some steam and kill a long break Saturday between games.
