2016 Mississauga North Stars Scotiabank Cup Champs
The weekend of Friday, Oct. 28-Sunday, Oct. 30 the Minor Midget Wolves battled to their second consecutive tournament win of the season!  In a very tough group the Wolves began the weekend with a 5-5 tie against the TNT Tornadoes.  In a four group tournament, the boys knew full well that to move on to the semis on Sunday, they'd need to win their next two games.

Next up on Friday night was the Vaughn Panthers.  The Wolves fought hard, capitalizing when they needed to support the outstanding goal-tending in a 3-0 victory.  On Saturday, scheduling wasn't on our side and the Wolves had to wait all day for a 7:00 pm game against the Toronto Aces.  Again, goal-tending was tremendous and in a back and forth battle, the boys managed to eeek out a 3-1 win.  Onto Sunday.

Sunday would prove to be the biggest battle of the tournament so far.  Up against the host team Mississauga North Stars, the Wolves were coming into the game with the memory of being bounced from this same tournament the year prior by the same team.  But grit and determination would prevail and despite a rally in the final seconds the Wolves escaped with a 2-1 victory.  Onto the final.

Coming out of a hard fought early round, the Wolves were matched up against the Caledon Hawks in the final.  Showing obvious fatigue, the game began slow with both teams feeling each other out.  Leading 2-1 in the final seconds of the game, the Wolves were ready to throw off their gloves and celebrate victory, but Caledon had other plans and tied it with a late goal.  Onto OT!

Ready to head home, the Wolves came out full throttle for the 4-on-4 format.  Goal-tending was perfect and the team was charging.  Not 2 minutes in, a fortuitous bounce and a quick stick and the Wolves were victorious, winning 3-2.

Congratulations to the Minor Midget Wolves on an amazing tournament win!
