MINOR MIDGET AAA WOLVES ARE OHL CUP BOUND!!!
Article Written/Submitted by WMHA

The Minor Midget AAA team completed a 4-game series sweep of the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs with a 3-2 win this past Sunday!  The win not only clinches the Wolves a place in the ALLIANCE Playdown Final, but it also earns the Wolves a spot in the 2015 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament for the 4th time in the past 5 years.

The year-end championship tournament includes 20 participating teams from across Ontario and the United States competing for the OHL Cup in a showcase that annually features many of the OHL's future stars and serves as a preview for April's OHL Priority Selection. All games will be played at Buckingham Arena in Toronto starting March 17th until the Championship Final moves to the Mattamy Athletic Centre on March 23rd.

This represents the 3rd consecutive season that the Waterloo Minor Midget AAA team has made the ALLIANCE Final, winning the title last season (2014) and falling just short in 2013.

It is also the 3rd consecutive season, and the 4th time in the past 5 years, that the Waterloo Minor Midget AAA team has made the OHL Cup.  An impressive statistic when you consider that only 4 out of over 60 Minor Midget AAA programs in Ontario (Waterloo, Ottawa Jr 67s, Ottawa Valley Titans and Toronto Jr Canadiens) have made the OHL Cup 4 of the past 5 years and only 1 team, the perennial minor hockey juggernaut Toronto Marlboros, have made the OHL Cup in all 5 of the past 5 seasons.

The Wolves now await the winner of the other ALLIANCE Playdown Semi-Final between the league-leading London Jr. Knights and the Kitchener Jr. Rangers that is currently knotted at 2-2.

Please join Waterloo Minor Hockey in congratulating to the players, Head Coach Shawn Dietrich and staff on this truly amazing accomplishment!!
